What I've learned

This semester I learned that First Nations have so many stereotypes and how they are not treated equally to Canadians. In the documentary " The 8th Fire" had mentioned a lot about the stereotypes that I have never heard of. In the article, " The Death of Helen Betty Osborne" demonstrates the cruel and negative ways Canadians treat Natives especially women. In this article it explains that the police who were investigating the murder didn't investigate hard enough because they didn't care who she was. Watching " The 8th Fire" documentary and reading the article I've learned a lot about how First Nations are treated unfairly by Canadians and that First Nations should be treated equally because they are still human beings. Throughout this course I've had learned why and how First Nations are treated and that should be changed to fix the problem.

  1. I agree with everything you have said Cheyenne. Taking this course was a great opportunity for all of us because it gave us the chance to learn more about the natives and how poorly we have treated them in the past. It is a very sad thing that natives do not get treated equally. You're right.. they are humans and I think that since we are still young, we could definitely work towards accepting the natives more, maybe give them a chance and also teach the younger generations that it is okay to be different and have different beliefs. This could be something that every young child could work towards as they get older. Definitely something to think about for our future.
