My Identity

I would say my identity is my athletics. I Like to be very competitive in all of the sports I take part in no matter if it is organized outside of school or if it is my grade 11 large group games class. I enjoy trying my hardest and being successful by winning the games. I also compete at a high level of sports outside of school and I really enjoy the competition of playing against players better then me. I have made most of my good friends by playing on the same sports team as them. During the winter I usually attend hockey practices or games 8 times a week so as you can probably tell a large part of my life is playing sports. When I am not playing sports I'm usually in the gym training to get better at sports. I spend around 30 hours a week driving to, playing sports, and training for sports so it is pretty much a part time job for me. This is why I feel my identity revolves around my athletics.

  1. I like how you compare your athletics to a job - it certainly sounds true! I had a student last semester talk about what happened when he suddenly couldn't do the sport he loved due to injury. It was devastating. Do you ever worry about the same thing happening to you? How do you see sports fitting into your future, in 5, 10, 20 years?

  2. Do you see yourself advancing to the NLL or the NHL anytime soon?
