[Insert creative title here]
My name is Nicholas Alexander. I don't know where to start with in explaining my identity, so I'll just start by mentioning a few things that have made me who I am. From a very young age my parents had a divorce, and since I'm an only child, I haven't become reliant on anyone but myself. A negative aspect of this includes my struggle to trust, or open up to people completely. However, as a result I have become independent and not afraid to spend time, or do something by myself. Another part of my life that helped encouraged this personality trait was during my time in elementary school; I didn't stay at a school for any longer than 1 grade. By having to constantly make and lose friends, becoming close or attached to someone became more difficult than ever.Through all of my experiences, I have gained the traits of an avid listener and thinker. I like to observe and analyse human interactions, and because of this I have become someone that my friends can talk to when they are having struggles, they come to me for advice. I am really relaxed and wouldn't mind sitting on comfy recliner on my porch and watching the day go by, I don't easily get discouraged by the things that may try to bring me down in this world, I always like to think that every trial in life only makes me stringer, and that the harder the fight, the better the reward. K that's it.

It must have been difficult growing up like that, but it sounds like you came through it stronger than most could. Which is very good to see.
ReplyDeleteI am really glad I took the time out to read and watch your blog Nicholas. You're obviously quite reserved and quiet and I like that you chose to do your blog on explaining why. I enjoyed reading this because I now have a better understanding of your story. I think I liked reading your blog most because I like to get to know people on a deeper level than a "hi hello, how are you". I like to be able to understand people, and from your blog, now I can better understand you. Awesome job!
ReplyDeleteMoving as a kid is never easy, especially if it meant to you had to keep switching schools! I can imagine that you would always feel like you were just visiting, like being invited to a dinner with a family who has lived together for years. You don't know their inside jokes or understand their mannerisms. I've always been an advocate for change as it can make you stronger, but at what point does it harden you?
ReplyDeleteI just had the opportunity to watch the video that you included, and it certainly gave me some insight as to how you view the world: as an observer and a listener. It made me think of something that a friend once told me: are you listening, or just waiting for your opportunity to speak? I imagine that you are always the former, instead of the latter. An old soul indeed....
